LFGB Silicone
Full-Chain Support
From food-grade raw material sourcing to third-party certified reports -- YMS delivers end-to-end LFGB compliant silicone manufacturing for the European market and beyond.
Applications & Markets
Where LFGB Certification Matters Most
LFGB is a mandatory food-contact standard for the German and broader EU market. Required for all products that may touch food, pet food, or human skin.
Pet Food Contact
Foldable bowls, slow feeders, treat toys, water bottles.
Kitchen & Baking
Baking molds, spatulas, mats, kitchen utensils.
Baby Products
Teethers, pacifiers, feeding bottles, bibs.
EU Market Entry
Required for Germany, France, Benelux retail distribution.
Note: LFGB (Lebensmittel-, Bedarfsgegenstände- und Futtermittelgesetzbuch) is Germany's food, product and feed code -- considered stricter than FDA in many categories and widely recognized across the European Union.
Material Selection
Choosing the Right LFGB Compliant Silicone
Not all food-grade silicone is created equal. The selection depends on product use case, molding process, and target market compliance level. Our engineers guide you through the material matrix.
Solid Silicone Rubber (HTV)
Compression-molded, ideal for rigid shapes like pet bowls, baking molds, grooming brushes. Excellent tear resistance and cost efficiency.
Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR)
Injection-molded, suited for precision parts like teethers, pacifiers, and complex multi-cavity components. Superior clarity and softness.
Specialty Grade Compounds
Custom color masterbatches and additives -- all screened for LFGB conformity. Includes food-safe pigments and antibacterial options.
Supplier Management
Traceable Raw Material Supply Chain
We only source from pre-qualified silicone compound manufacturers with verified LFGB material declarations.
Pre-Qualified Suppliers
Partnerships with Dow, Wacker, Shin-Etsu, and Elkem -- Tier 1 silicone compound suppliers with globally recognized LFGB material declarations.
Material Declaration (MD)
Every incoming batch is accompanied by an original MD/COA from the upstream manufacturer, documenting composition and compliance status.
Batch Traceability
Each raw material lot is tagged with a unique batch ID, linking back to supplier, production date, and the specific finished goods manufactured from it.
Supplier Audit Protocol
Annual on-site audits, quarterly compliance reviews, and batch-level random sampling ensure continuous conformity.
Confirmation Process
Sample & Material Pre-Confirmation
Before mass production, every LFGB project goes through a structured sign-off flow -- ensuring both aesthetic specifications and material compliance are locked in writing.
Material Grade Confirmation
Client selects or approves the proposed LFGB-grade compound. Material datasheet and MD attached.
Color & Hardness Sign-off
Pantone color chip and Shore-A hardness swatches sent via DHL for physical approval.
Pre-Production Sample (PPS)
Final tool, final material, final process. Client confirmation required before testing begins.
Sealed Golden Sample
A signed, sealed master sample is retained by both parties as the production reference.
Testing Scope
LFGB Testing Items Explained
LFGB testing follows BfR Recommendation XV for silicone -- covering migration, VOC, and sensory analysis.
Overall Migration
Measures total non-volatile substances migrating from silicone to food simulants. Limit: ≤10 mg/dm².
Volatile Organic Compounds
VOC content tested at 200°C for 4 hours. Must not exceed 0.5% by weight -- critical for high-temperature cookware.
Sensory Analysis
Taste and odor transfer evaluation by trained panelists per DIN 10955. Essential for food-contact applications.
Peroxide Residue
Checks for curing agent residues. Platinum-cured LSR typically passes without issue; peroxide-cured HTV requires post-curing.
Heavy Metals
Lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium screening per food-contact material regulations.
Specific Migration
Individual substance migration limits (SMLs) for colorants, additives, and crosslinking byproducts.
Third-Party Verification
Independent Testing with Global Laboratories
We partner with SGS, TÜV Rheinland, Intertek, and Bureau Veritas -- ensuring reports are accepted worldwide.
Switzerland-based, globally recognized
German authority on LFGB
Full-service EU compliance testing
Bureau Veritas -- French origin
Standard Testing Workflow
Project Brief
Define scope, standards, sample count.
Sample Submission
Prepared samples sent to accredited lab.
Laboratory Analysis
Typically 7-15 working days.
Draft Report Review
Verify item names, specs, applicant info.
Final Report Issued
PDF with QR verification code.
Sample Preparation
Representative, Compliant Test Samples
Reliable test results start with properly prepared samples. We follow lab-specified protocols to ensure samples truly represent the mass production output.
-
Mass-Production Equivalent
Samples molded on production tooling, with production parameters, using production-grade material.
-
Post-Curing Treatment
Standardized 200°C × 4h post-curing ensures volatile residues are properly removed before testing.
-
Sufficient Quantity
Minimum 200g per color variant, packaged clean to prevent cross-contamination during transit.
-
Clear Labeling
Each sample bagged and tagged with product name, material code, color, and batch reference.
Documentation
Reports & Document Management
Fully digitized, archived, and retrievable -- supporting your customs clearance and retail audit requirements.
Original Test Reports
Signed and stamped PDF reports with QR codes for online verification at the testing lab's website.
Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
EC No 1935/2004 declaration prepared for every finished product, listing contact conditions and compliance basis.
Material Safety Data Sheet
Full MSDS/TDS for the specific silicone compound used, including supplier origin and REACH SVHC statement.
10-Year Digital Archive
All project files, test records, and sign-offs retained in our secure cloud system -- retrievable upon client request.
Production Consistency
Material Consistency Across Every Batch
Passing one test is easy. Maintaining compliance across millions of units -- that's where YMS stands apart.
Locked Material Specifications
Material code, supplier, and compound grade are locked in the BOM. Any change requires formal engineering change notice.
Incoming Quality Control (IQC)
Every raw material batch is sampled for hardness, specific gravity, and MD verification before entering production.
Annual Re-Testing
Running SKUs are re-sent for LFGB testing every 12 months, keeping compliance current with evolving regulations.
In-Line Process Monitoring
Hourly first-piece inspection, temperature logging, and curing time verification on every production line.
Change Notification Protocol
Any material or process change triggers advance written notification to the client and re-testing before shipment.
